Days Two of Fanime 2012

The last day of Fanime for me was awesome. Went to the Black and White ball which was tons of fun. I danced with a puppet which was a good time for everyone. I'm writing this a few days after Fanime weekend due to life picking back up. Also, there won't be pictures of the rest of the day. Sorry folks, but it's legal stuff that prevents me from doing that. Anyhow, it was probably the most fun I've ever had in a weekend. All in all, I would totally go to next year's and this time, with a badge as well as the advantage in sleeping in a hotel room instead of at home.

Day One of Fanime and Clockwork Alchemy

Day one was yesterday, but nevertheless I will still upload something to show you guys. It was a very boring day at the volunteering place having only delivered two telegrams the whole day. Today (day two) is promising to be a very busy day. I don't have much news other than that. I saw some amazing cosplays, but I can't upload them without their consent so sorry about that.

Here are the two machines at the telegraph office.

Day Zero of Fanime 2012

Nothing absolutely nothing happened other than saying hi to some people. I waited in line and right around 2, the line got really long. Luckily for me, I'm not getting my badge until tomorrow morning in a different place that will probably be less crowed. I only took one photo today since nothing really happened.

This is was taken with my phone hence not amazing quality.
Stupid hipsters and their $20,000 cameras.

Tomorrow, there will be chaos and fun. Mostly fun. And running for me.

A quick update

Hello there ladies and gents. This is a quick update about what's going on. Sorry for the inactivity lately, but there will be more posts soon as soon as I can get to them. I have a couple of reviews in the works as well as something a little different in store. Last week, I had three papers to write for classes which is why nothing has been up as of late. This week I will be attending Clockwork Alchemy (I'm actually a messenger for them) as well as Fanime in San Jose. I hope I will be able to blog about Fanime while I am there. It will be a miracle if I can get a review out this week considering how excited I am for Fanime and for this week to be done with. That being said, expect reviews in the next couple of weeks.

Doctor Who: A Show More Americans Should Watch

*Note: I am not a professional TV critic nor do I claim I'm the most knowledgeable in the world. These reviews are strictly for entertainment and informative reasons only. All images/video belong to the network and or their respective copyright holders. Please don't sue me. Seriously.*

Out of all the TV shows I've watched, this has to be my absolutely favorite show of all time. It's got everything a sci-fi lover could ask for. It's got time and space travel, aliens, monsters, witty dialogue, and memorable characters. Honestly, there's not much more you can ask from a show.

It's... glorious.

The concept of Doctor Who is very simple. The Doctor is a Time Lord (an alien from a planet called Gallifrey) who appears human, but has two hearts instead of one. Time Lords have the ability to regenerate or to basically renewing every single cell in his body. So far, he's in his 11th regeneration out of 13 which is just a fancy way of say the producers replaced the actor who plays the Doctor. He travels through both space and time in his TARDIS which stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space. Ever since he first landed on 1960's Earth it's had the appearance of a police call box from the U.K. He also carries around a Sonic Screwdriver which can do various things such as unlock doors and fix electronics as well as Psychic Paper which turns into any sort of documentation he wants the person to see such as passport or ID as well as do a few other tricks. However, some people can see that it's a blank piece of paper. He doesn't usually travel alone and usually has female companions that travel with him. Got all of that?

Psychic paper and one it's tricks.

The 11th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver.

Good. Now I can move on
with my life.

Each episode is usually a stand alone plot, however, there's always a overall plot that ties all the episodes of a series (a.k.a season to Americans) together that gets resolved at the end of the series. The show has been running for almost 50 years now with the very first episode been aired on November 23, 1963 which means that yes, this show holds the world record for the longest running sci-fi show with over 769 episodes altogether.

Sorry Star Trek.

It is worth noting however that the show has not been continually running since 1963. The show actually was on a hiatus of sorts for 16 years until the reboot in 2005. This review will be about the 2005 reboot since there are episodes of the original series that have been lost in the BBC archives and therefore it's almost impossible to watch the entire series of Doctor Who.

Think of the amount of time that would take too.
See what I did there? No? Okay...

"Doctor" or "The Doctor" (Currently played by Matt Smith) is the Doctor as of his 11th regeneration. Unlike his previous regeneration (played by David Tennant), he's is much more happy-go-lucky. Of course, being an alien from a race that has existed for as long as it has, he's also extremely intelligent. He's best described as energetic and sometimes eccentric, but also very fierce and serious when the time calls for it. As the saying goes, you never forget your first Doctor and for me, it's very true. Matt Smith is it.

I like bow ties. Bow ties are cool.

Amelia "Amy" Pond (played by Karen Gillan) is one of two of the Doctor's current companions. She's a Scotchish red head and can best be described as sassy as well as a very loving person especially to her husband, Rory even though it may not appear that way all the time.

I wish I had a hot Scotish redhead for a wife...

Rory Williams (Played by Arthur Darvill) is the second companion of the Doctors. As stated earlier, he was the boyfriend and eventually the husband of Amy Pond. He's kind of an awkward guy, but he's funny because of it. He's also smarter than he first appears.

Surprisingly badass as well.

While there are many other characters, aliens, monsters and stuff, I believe that is it best if you watch the show for yourself. Since the show is the way it is, there are a lot of things I left out because it would literally spoil entire season if I even made a hint at these things. It's these events and characters that really engross a viewer into this show. As it stands right now, the 7th series is going start being aired sometime in August so I highly recommend you start watching now. All the episodes are on Netflix instant*.

*Please note that the series finale of the 4th series is separated from the main Doctor Who queue and is called "Doctor Who: The End of Time" on Netflix.
